Texas - 3/9/2024

Renowned executive and emerging literary talent, Robert O’Brien, has garnered widespread acclaim for his latest book, “Waiting in Soller,” which has exceeded the expectations of critics in the literary world. Drawing upon his background in data, advanced analytics, AI, and visualization, O’Brien has transitioned into the world of literature, establishing himself as an author with a captivating voice.

Waiting in Soller” unfolds against the backdrop of World War II, and draws inspiration from classics such as “Band of Brothers” and showcasing the valor of the 101st Airborne. At the heart of O’Brien’s story is the love story between John, a gallant soldier, and Mary, a vibrant Spanish woman from Sóller, Mallorca. Their destinies collide in war-ravaged Paris, where, amidst the chaos, a delicate romance blossoms.

When asked about the inspiration behind the book, O’Brien shared, “Throughout my career working in technology consulting, I have traveled all over the world engaging with clients. Writing in the mornings and evenings to gear up or diffuse from the day helped me to focus. Writing seemed to be a calm activity, a break from the grind, and it came naturally to me. While on vacation, cruising the Mediterranean, we visited the island of Mallorca and took the train from Palma to Sóller. I immediately fell in love with the town, the people, and the atmosphere. The story just came to me as I stood near the train station. I started writing it that very evening on the cruise ship.

Critics have praised O’Brien’s ability to seamlessly blend historical events with a deeply human and emotional narrative. The book stands as a testament to O’Brien’s storytelling prowess, capturing the essence of love in the face of adversity.

Waiting in Soller” is now available at major bookstores and online retailers. For more information about Robert O’Brien’s book and his other literary endeavors, please visit:
